Ashley is a freelance writer/editor and PR Account Manager who resides in Austin, Texas. Her work has appeared both nationally and regionally, in publications such as Women’s Running, Competitor, Austin Woman and Austin Fit Magazine.
While growing up in California, she knew she wanted to work in the world of Journalism after seeing the movie “Never Been Kissed” when main character Josie Geller, a copy editor at the Chicago Sun Times, showed her it was possible to correct poor grammar and spelling for a living. What started out as editing friends’ papers in high school led her to attend the University of California, San Diego, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in Literature/Writing.
While in college, Ashley interned for a literary agency and two publications, one of which was Competitor, where her career in fitness writing came to fruition. After graduation, she moved to Austin, where her previous opportunity to work with the editorial staff eventually led to a year as Texas Regional Editor of Competitor. Ashley has also been a fitness contributor for Austin Woman Magazine and has contributed an article to The Austin Times. She is currently the PR Account Manager at Bounce Marketing + Events.
Wanting to practice what she preaches, her fitness writing led to an accidental running career, and Ashley completed her first half marathon in April 2011. She trains with Rogue Running in downtown Austin and is a member of Team Oiselle.
